1) Delve into the past

The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre provides visitors with an innovative view of local history. More than just a museum, the centre is home to a variety of northern artifacts, archives, collections and exhibits. Bring the family and enjoy one of the many events, or take a tour of the centre.

2) Meet me at the crossroads

Yellowknife Cultural Crossroads is a breathtaking cultural landmark that has to be seen to be believed. You can see a bronze statue designed by three First Nations artists, as well as traditional First Nations symbols and icons engraved into a massive rock face.

3) Get wild in Old Town

Old Town celebrates the heritage of the area, with historic buildings, tours and the city's oldest restaurant—the Wildcat Café. Once a gathering place for the city's founders, this local landmark remains a hub of activity even today.

4) Catch the aurora

The aurora borealis (a.k.a. northern lights) can be seen from September through April in the wide open northern sky. No northern adventure would be complete without witnessing this incredible sight.

The Bush Pilot's Monument was built in honour of the pilots who bravely flew their planes into the uncharted north to seek adventure—and later, to supply the city of Yellowknife with supplies and resources. The monument is located in the centre of Old Town, perched high on a rock hill (known as "The Rock" by locals) and if you climb to the top you will have a stellar view of the city below.
