Top things to see and do in Gold Beach

Water-loving RVers will want to float on down to this seaside community

Swim in the ocean, stroll on the beach and embrace the laid-back coastal lifestyle of Gold Beach, Oregon. Take the time to experience some of these attractions and activities to enrich your Gold Beach vacation.

1) Watch the whales go by

Pack your binoculars—whale-watching is an integral part of visiting any oceanside town. Gold Beach has places where you might see a California gray whale, even from land. There are also charters that run between December and May, and these allow you to get even closer to the majestic animals.

2) Celebrate at Brewfest

Gold Beach Brew and Art Fest is exactly what it sounds like: A festival celebrating local artisans, with live entertainment, vendors and, of course, microbrew and craft-brewed beer. Adult entry tickets include a festival beer glass, two drink tickets and admission to the event's all-day live music performances. Minors under 21 years of age are allowed to attend the festival, but they must be accompanied by an adult.

3) Get a little crabby

Crabbing and clamming are common activities in Gold Beach. You can rent the equipment you need, and by the end of your excursion you will have ocean-fresh seafood to dine on. Dungeness crabs and razor clams make their homes here, and can be caught even by those with no prior experience.

4) Go car crazy

Every year the Rogue Ramblers Classic Car Show comes to town, with a display of vintage vehicles that will impress any classic car enthusiast. Awards are presented by local sponsors near the end of the show.

5) Take a fishing tour

There are numerous local fishing tours available, both guided and unguided. You can cast your line into the nearby rivers or book an ocean charter for something more adventurous. Gold Beach is particularly known for its steelhead fishing, which peaks in February.
