The rock formations are breathtaking, however you need to be cautions of meeting an oncoming vehicle as there are only limited places to pass. A visit to Buffalo is not complete without a stop at the Occidental Hotel.

Built in the mid 1800s this was a frequent stopping place for William F. (Buffalo Bill) Cody, Calamity Jane, Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch, the Sundance Kid and President T. Roosevelt. We also visited Sheridan, Wyoming, to see the Sheridan Inn which was built in 1892/93 and was once owned by Buffalo Bill Cody.

After several days exploring we decided to move to the Tie Hack state park for the September long weekend. We got a nice site in the tall pine trees. Getting there was a bit of an eye opener as we rose in elevation from 4,100 to 8,000 feet. Needless to say, the nights were quite cold. The first night got down to minus 2.1 degrees Celsius. The scenery, however was beautiful.
