Pine Lake pleasures
Heather Andrews, manager at Pine Lake Leisure Club, enjoys her job and the chance to get to know the resort's patrons
Beautiful Pine Lake is a short drive from both Calgary and Edmonton and meanders through central Alberta's rural areas. Pine Lake Leisure Club is a top-rated seasonal camping community on the lake and it sees many return visitors.
Busy days
Resort manager Heather Andrews enjoys her very busy and very satisfying job. Her favourite part of being a resort host is being with her guests.
“I get to spend my day with a clientele that are genuinely happy to be here at the resort,” said Andrews. “We are all about customer service, so my husband, Dave, and I start very early and are out and about making sure everything in the resort is running smoothly.”
She said her husband focuses more on the outside operations of the resort and overseeing the grounds and maintenance, while her time is spent more on the administration side.
“We are both very hands-on and we have a fantastic staff that is absolutely invaluable to us,” said Andrews.
Summer fun
Andrews said that Pine Lake patrons say the resort is the best place they could be in the summertime.
“The majority of our new seasonals are referrals from our existing patrons, and we know that there is no better compliment than to refer us to your friends and family,” she said.
Pine Lake Leisure Club opens May 1 and closes September 30. The resort has a beautiful beach, heated swimming pool, store, café, arcade, marina with gas, activities for the kids and 10 modern two-bedroom rental cabins.
“We just completed an expansion of 52 spacious new sites at the end of the season last year,” said Andrews. “As a result, we still have sites available for this season when typically we would not have any sites.”
Andrews said that the resort is owned by Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc., Canada’s largest owner and operator of land-leased communities.
“With over 100 communities, resort properties and marinas across the country in their portfolio,” said Andrews, “they have very high standards for their properties—which I think is the main reason it is so beautiful and desirable here."
