The apartment on wheels

Dennis and Brenda Carr enjoy hiking and biking nature trails

by Michelle Carr Johnson

Who: Dennis and Brenda Carr with Brigitte, a 12-year-old Polish lowland sheepdog

Where: Yellowstone KOA

Rig: 2006 Titanium fifth wheel, “the apartment on wheels”

What they love about their RV: Aside from being able pull off the highway and have lunch at “home” anytime, sleeping in their own bed and the perfect layout, what Dennis and Brenda really love is the electric fireplace. In addition to saving on propane for heating, Brenda said it is the best way to feel “comfy and cozy on cool evenings.”

Top two all-time favourite RV destinations: 1. Beebe Bridge state campground just outside Lake Chelan, Washington, which the Carrs describe as “an immaculate park with lots of pull-throughs located along the banks of the Columbia River.” 2. Revelstoke KOA, where there is always something to do—including live music downtown every night in the summer.

Favourite things to do: Hiking and biking on nature trails, walking tours of nearby towns to learn about local history and culture

Best RV tip: When travelling with pets, be sure that you have all your most recent vaccination records on hand. Always pack enough of your pet’s food and/or medications and make sure there are no restrictions about bringing these into the United States.
