Top things to see and do in Saskatoon
Saskatoon has plenty of activities and attractions to discover
A bustling city, Saskatoon is one of the liveliest destinations in the province. There are innumerable things to see and do here, but we picked five of the many popular choices.
1.) Party it up at The Barn Playhouse
Situated on a family farm, The Barn Playhouse is a community theatre and banquet hall in one. The Playhouse has been producing shows for more than 20 years, with an emphasis on themes that celebrate rural life, farming and family.
2.) Be in awe of the Western Development Museum
The Western Development Museum is an intriguing establishment that celebrates 100 years of pioneer history—complete with a life-sized replica of 1910 Boomtown. There are more than 30 buildings that demonstrate historical community life, and several engaging interactive exhibits.
3.) Live the high life on Broadway Avenue
Broadway Avenue is known for being a vivacious arts, entertainment and business district. You will get a true taste of Saskatoon culture, architecture and diversity at its finest. There are several great retail stores here as well. Broadway Avenue has even been named one of the top Great Streets in Canada in the 2011 Great Places in Canada contest, sponsored by the Canadian Institute of Planners.
4.) Learn about Ukrainian culture
The Ukrainian Museum of Canada has three galleries and a gift shop to honour local Ukrainian heritage. The collections have been growing since the 1930s, and now include Ukrainian schoolbooks, records from prominent Ukrainian Canadians, and handmade textiles.
5.) See the sights at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo
The Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park & Zoo has a serene park and garden area, heritage buildings and, of course, a variety of Western Canadian and exotic animals to see.
