A well-known snowbirding destination, Yuma always offers something to get excited about. From arts and culture to outdoor recreation, there is never a shortage of things to do.

1.) Embrace Cocopah culture

Stop by the Cocopah Museum and Cultural Center to learn about the heritage of Yuma's local Cocopah Indian Tribe. The museum has a gift shop and exhibits of traditional clothing and dwellings.

2.) See what's up at the fair

The Yuma County Fairgrounds are home to the popular annual Yuma County Fair in the spring. This festival has tons of entertainment and exhibits to enjoy.

3.) Take the artistic approach

The Yuma Art Center is an attractive structure that includes the 640-seat Historic Yuma Theatre. Check out the art exhibits, attend one of the numerous special events that are held here and find some unique items in the gift shop.

4.) Explore the landscape

Yuma has quite the backyard. The surrounding territory, such as the nearby Colorado River Valley, lends itself to outdoor sports like hiking and climbing. Visit the Painted Desert Trail in the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge to see hoodoos and other natural desert features.

5.) Join the chain gang

One of the most famous attractions in Yuma is the Yuma Territorial Prison State Historic Park. Visitors can see what prison life was like in the late 1800s and check out restored cells that were originally built by the prisoners themselves.
