A land of outlaws and history awaits

Our next move was to shuffle off to Buffalo. No, not Buffalo, New York, but Buffalo, Wyoming. The drive was mostly across barren, open land covered with sagebrush, fences and a few cattle. We passed by the town of Sundance, Wyoming. This is where the Sundance Kid earned his name and reputation as an outlaw.

In 1891 he fled north from Wyoming and worked as a ranch hand at the Bar U Ranch in Alberta. He later returned to Wyoming and joined with Butch Cassidy and his wild bunch on a robbery spree that lasted into 1901. We found there is a lot of such history in this part of Wyoming.

Driving into our campground in Buffalo we encountered several wild turkeys and some deer. We stayed at the aptly named Deer Park Campground, which our hosts Kirk and Ann Kavanagh have been operating for over thirty years.
